OK Tank is rusted abit, but I rinsed it and added a new pet cock w/ scrren and a inline filter per qwerty suggestion.

Lubed cables w/ triflow

changed oil 1040 mc dino, main filter

greased the swing arm

going thru the electical, adding a blade fuse



Qustion on fork Oil and change,, do I drain it all from the lower fork screws?

Then add transmission fluid , ATF+4



will keep you all posted...

I use ATF. Not a problem. Most brands of Dexron are about 9wt, Dexron/Mercon tends to be only 5-6wt. The factory fork oil is 10wt.



You can drain it from the screws. But the fact that it has fork drains means it's an older bike. You may want to pull the fork legs and do a full flush if you find nasty-smelling, emulsified oil in there.

+1. A quart of ester-based synthetic for the forks is about a lifetime supply. Well worth the better quality lube. Expect less stiction, which results in a smoother ride.



I've been buried up in researching synthetics for a bit over a year. There sure is a ton of roadkill on the information superhighway. I've learned the difference between lubricants called synthetics or semi-synthetics and lubricants that are truly synthetic. Many lubricants sold as synthetics or semi-synthetics are nothing more than highly refined and de-sulfered dino base oils that in practical applications have so little benefit over conventional dino oils as to be not worth the added investment. Real synthetics, those based on man-made mono- and multi-ester molecules, provide a host of advantages over dino lubricants. I've recently switched every lubricant I put in everything I own to ester-based synthetics. The difference is sometimes dramatic, sometimes not. Your mileage may vary.

I have both ATF+4 from Chrysler and Dextron from GM both are synthetic

In regular oils Dextron types are heavier. Not sure about synthetic. Maybe Qwerty or someone else knows. Try googling for "ATF viscosity", or some such. There are sites out there with the true viscosities of some brands.



I don't blow munny on snake...er, excuse me, FORK oils unless I need to tune one stiffer than 10wt. allows. Dexron serves for a 10wt. application just as well as "real" fork oil. I run our TW's with the factory oil levels and dino ATF.

Anything is better than the Japanese fish oil originally in the bikes.

Blinker fluid diluted 50/50 with light oil will give you that BMW modulating headlight look.
