Just ordered and getting ready to install 15 front sprocket.

The threaded holes for the keeper bolts are smaller than stock.

Anyone seen this?

Go get new smaller bolts and use it or get another new sprocket with correct size threaded holes??

These keeper bolts sure do not seem to have much stress on them. In fact they are screw headed.

Since posted - I learned some Parts Unlimited sprockets have larger threaded holes and if you have these somebody probably drilled out the keeper to fit. I think OEM size is m5 x 10 bolts.

More info since posting ---

Yes it was a Parts Unlimited sprocket with larger holes. So I had a keeper that was drilled to fit by prior owner so it would be lose on my new sprocket with smaller keeper bolts.

Solution - This sprocket/chain combination I expect to use for a long time.So I ordered a new keeper and bolts for <$10 including postage from Boats.net.

Now we will see how long to get it.

Was planning on moving up to a 15/52 with this change out but had a small surprise when I took the front sprocket off.

I thought,(my mistake) that I had a 14/50 stock from prior owner. Well I thought wrong as it turned out to be a 15 tooth front sprocket.

I had a nice 52 rear ready to install but I did not want to go any lower. In fact I wanted to go higher but decided 15/50 was going to be fine.

So on Monday I ordered a 50 tooth rear sprocket from Lytle Racing Group in Arizona.

Today is Wednesday and the new sprocket was delivered around noon time.

Very good service from both Lytle Racing and Priority Mail from the USPS.

Now if I just get the new keeper.

If anyone is looking for a JT 52 rear sprocket let me know. I may post it in the classifieds in a few days after I see how the new sprockets and O-Ring chain work out.

What do you want for the 52T shipped to 38237 USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail envelope? (Shipping will be about $6 with tracking.)

Got the new keeper from Boats.net in 5 days.

Everything back together. Works fine.

The new o-ring chain was very stiff out of the box. Seemed like it would use a lot of power to turn it.

Laid it out with the old chain to cut to size. Old non-o-ring chain was almost 2 inches longer than the new chain for same number of links (122).

Once on the TW - Wow - the bike shifts super smooth with no noticeable lose of power from the stiff chain. I bet once it turns a few times and the chain lubes (both internal and external) work in that it spins very easily.

You will find that o-ring chain is massive compared to non-o-ring. Much wider because of the o-rings.

Very happy with the new chain and sprockets.

If you were inclined to safety wire the master link as some do, be very careful as there is not much clearance near the front sprocket on the outboard side.

Clearance should not be a problem with a front sprocket that is not supported on the outboard end but that is not the case on a TW. If you feel the need to secure the master link a little extra maybe consider a little silicone caulk on it.
