at 200 miles I had the Yamaha dealer mount a Pirelli mt43 on my new tw. since then I've had a small wobble but have done nothing because I heard it needs mileage to seat it self. today at 600 miles I put the bike on a center stand and spun the tire and it doesn't spin true. I let the air out and reset the bead about 6 times and I can't get the bead to set evenly all the way around. is there some secret method to doing this. I ran the pressure up to 45 lbs, the bead popped at 30 lbs but never set evenly any suggestions? I've read only good things about this tire, is it possibly a bad one?

I have had the same problem, I fixed it by lubing the bead with soapy water and airing it up to about 50psi and then taking a rubber mallet and hitting the side wall of the tire as close to the rim as possible in a outward angle.

hi I did try all that including the rubber mallet with an out ward swing. that tire has had so much sunlight soap that it will never be in the dark. maybe 45lb wasn't enough to really pop in on, does any one know what is a safe pressure to go up to?

I would take it back to the dealer that you paid to mount it.

Maximum is the maximum listed on the sidewall of the tire, anything higher can get risky. I'm sure that most of us that mount our own tires might have pushed the limits a time or 2.

I would take it back where you got it mounted, it should run true from day 1 unless you have a bent rim.

no, no bent rim, it runs true. the tire will be going to tire shop tomorrow but it will not be Yamaha, they had their chance. I just found out that there is a real motorcycle tire shop in the town just south of us so that is where its going. i'll see what they say, maybe a shinko 241 coming up

well the wheel and tire went to the " professional motorcycle tire shop " today. the guy didn't even have an axle to spin my wheel on so I could show him the tire wobble. he reseated the bead again and it was the same as when I did it. I asked him for a price on a shinko 241 and after 2-3 phone calls he came back with a price of $180.00 out the door if I took the wheel off the bike, doesn't matter because nobody up here has one! when are we going to become the 52 nd state!! this is frustrating so I came home and spun the tire on the bike and it looks better so I static balanced it and went for a ride and it is almost perfect.... for now. it will do until holidays and i'll pick a shinko up at rocky mountain atv on the way through
