Just got a new fuel filter and decided to replace fuel lines also. Any recommendations on brand of fuel lines? Or are they all the same? Also what is the I.D. of the TW's fuel lines?

not sure but you could just shut off the petcock and pull it off and bring it with you to the hardware store...or just take a small slice off the end of it if you have extra slack and bring it with you...i don't think it matters much what fuel line you buy but make sure you get a non-translucent line since gasoline will degrade in sunlight...or i guess you could buy the clear stuff and put some type of sleeve around it...and just so you know there is a fuel screen built into the petcock...sometimes fuel filters slow the flow of fuel in gravity fed systems...buy and extra length of fuel line in case your bike acts up...it's cheap enough...let us know how you make out

I insist on Tygon brand fuel line. The stuff I use is yellow.

It remains flexible and pliable long after any other brands I've ever used. Also with the Yamaha, it doesn't require hose clamps.

I'm pretty sure I'm using 3/16th inch ID Tygon on my bike.. I keep 3/16" and 1/4" stocked in the garage at all times. It stretches over bigger fittings well.



The added benefit is you can see through it to know if your line is plugged up and there's no fuel in it. It costs about twice the price of the black rubber junk sold at car parts stores and you usually have to ask for it by name (and usually the kid working at the store doesn't know what it is.)



They sell it at O'Reilly Auto, Napa, and a local mom and pop shop I do business with.

Ditto on Tygon. Nothing wrong with the thick black stuff, but avoid any other brand of transparent, as they usually crack in the sun. Had to replace some line just yesterday because fuel was going everywhere when you turned the petcock on.



If it's Tygon, 3/16" will work. The standard stuff at the parts store, you'll probably want in 1/4".

Bring an extra length of hose in you tool kit. Had one of those little fuel filters break once on my 3 wheeler while riding at local creek and had to Mcguiver it and hobble on back to truck with small fuel leak.

Excellent point. I do carry an extra length of hose in my stock tool kit, luckily I have never needed to use it. I'll have to look into that good clear stuff. Where is it sold at?

I have to ask at the counter for them to go pull it from the bowels of the store, but there should be at least one car parts store in your town that has Tygon. You can buy it online, but it's more expensive online than I get it for locally. I pay about $1.50/foot here for the stuff I have.



You can buy it on ebay. A foot would last someone with a TW about 20 years I imagine, haha.

They have Tygon at our local lawn and garden shop....independent one that sells and services mowers, saws, generators, etc. It's the one they recommend.

That's where I first learned about Tygon.. The lawn mower store. I suppose because most lawn equipment fuel line suffers the same fate as motorcycle fuel line. Exposed to the weather 100% of the time, so it tends to harden and crack. There are other premium brands of fuel line as well, but I just recommend NOT getting anything clear in color sold at big box stores. And don't get black rubber fuel line from the car parts store. Motion Pro makes decent rubber fuel line that I believe is made by Tygon and closely emulates OEM Japanese fuel line.

the cool thing about the TW is it has the least amount of fuel line of any bike I've ever owned. Tygon is way easier to deal with on bikes like a Honda CB750 with four cylinders and not as much space to reach in there and install/pull the fuel lines when you need to.



The TW is the first bike I've had where cheap fuel line wouldn't probably make me very mad.

I got the tygon. Had to ask for it at o'reillys, it was in the back on a shelf I suppose. Got 4' of 3/16 and 1/4". Sounds like good stuff to have around, easy to find and identify too.

Nah, it came with the bike which had car fuel line on it (leaky, cracked 1/4" ID stuff) That filter is flexy like it's made of bubble gum. Probably intended to be used on a weed whacker or something

I think it started out life straight but got a kink due to that other fuel line being inflexible.

I got some of this Tusk stuff. Pretty cheap, and since I was ordering other stuff anyhow, it saved me a trip through traffic. I got a 90 fuel filter too. Rocky Mtn is by far my favorite place to order from online.

If you don't carry extra hose, in an emergency situation with the fuel line, you can also use an appropriate length of you venting and battery vent tubing. Me learns some things through experience!

Thanks for all the replies! I alredy have the straight/small. It looks like the same setup thats on there already. Except for the Tygon lines. I was going to order both, but when looked at current setup I just got the straight.
