This came out well enough that I'll show it around for anyone thinking of the inexpensive tach.

The bag is just big enough for my sunglasses case and some other small things. Its not as large as the photo makes it look.

And it has a mesh bag on the front (not visible in photo) that is just right for the cell phone face to be visible if you get a call

and don't hear it ring.

The bag looks nice, I have a tack.like the one that you show--- how is that working out for you ? It must be scary to see your R P M. At 9000 !

I like the tach for the price, even with the 1 1/2 second update lag. It can't be used for red line shifting but is a good reference for us newbies.

8000 is as much as I've had the guts for so far.

I believe I got it on Amazon for $15-16 bucks.

For others looking at the tach, it has a battery and a single wire that wraps around the plug wire 4-5 times. Also an hour meter and a resettable

maintenance timer

How about those Tacs? How do they work?

There is a sensor wire that coils aroung the plug wire. It senses the pulses from the condenser coil to the plug. The Tdub has a "wasted" spark so you need to adjust the tach to a setting that takes that into account. I have one sold by Cabelas. It' a little smaller.
