Good luck. Being from Minnesota, I understand the need for something bigger. Lack of public lands to trail ride and lots of private lands. Speed limits being higher these days, I get it. Take care, but I still feel sad another TW'er is gone!



Hopefully, I'm still alive when you buy your next TW!

Well, I actually had an F650GS, which was renamed the F700 after too many folks confused it with the single F650. The 650 and 700 are nearly identical. I LOVED this bike! I started riding on pavement again after 35 years and it was the perfect bike for me. It is VERY quiet, handles well (although I did upgrade the suspension after a year), and gets 65 mpg. That vertical twin is a really fantastic engine.

However, after two years I upgraded to the R1200GS ONLY because I wanted to be able to carry a lot more gear and go much longer distances. I still think the F700GS is one of the best Beemers (As long as you do not want to ride much dirt other than decent FS roads.) I had the TW already, so more technical dirt was well covered!

The F700GS is a great road bike, for comfort,handleing on the grooved hiway and uneven pavement, gets good gas milage(60+), capable of interstate travel at 70- 80 mph with power left for passing but fuel economy will suffer at higher speeds,suspension smooths out the bumps on the highway, engine has a lot of torque and is quiet. Hard surface gravel roads, the bike is good but loose surface roads that were just graded and not packed by cars, the TW is much better and rocky rough trails the TW is much better. Fuel tank range is about 175 to 200 miles before needing fuel, the TW is about 80 to 100 miles before going on reserve. The TW is a trail bike that is legal in all 50 states on any road that is open for licened vehicles. that is eazy to handle and reliable. I hope that the F700GS is as reliable as the TW.
