So I was changing out my headlight bulb and noticed the one I took out is a 55watt rather than the OEM 35watt. (bulb part# 64185, which is an H-4 bulb)

Can anyone tell me if this is a bad thing (on the charging system)?

I keep a tender on the battery at all times but noticed after a full days ride, my battery is not fully charged like I'd expect... and the battery is less than a year old.

Any thoughts?

I'm running a 130/90w with no problems in my 2006 TW200. The older bikes had a smaller charging system output. If you are having problems, perhaps drop back to 35W and see if there is an improvement?

Personally, I think the difference will be minimal and a non-issue.

I switched to a the higher wattage bulb last year and now my battery is completely dead. The battery is about four years old. Don't know if the bulb zapped the battery, or the battery's life has expired. I love having more light on the bike while riding to work in the morning.

I think 4 years on a regular battery is good
