hello all first id like to say i really like your alls forum and the bikes you ride ive been looking at several pics and build threads they are great. a little about me ive been a bike and atv rider for many years since i got my first real motorcycle when i was 7 or 8 a well used 78 honda 50. i have went threw the bigger is better and faster is cooler faze of my life with several racing bike from 450s to cr500s my last bike being a 87 xt600 and it was a pig i hated to let it go bit just to dang big and heavy for tight woods ridding like i like to do. even for me being 6'4 and over 350 (dont know really how much the scales dont go that high lol). but i am very interested in getting me one of these bikes to ride with my up coming kids in a few years. i have a few concerns about the little tw200's

1. can the front forks be shimed up and heavy weight be added to make them ok for my size im not into jumping and all that mx stuff just slow eazy woods riding with lots of slimy mud.

2. how is the power compared to the bw200 i have riddin one of them quite alot and the power is ok for how i want to ride it. and how it is geared was close to my liking i thought it needed to me lower myself.

3. what years are to stay away from and what years are best.

4. has anyone ever had any trouble getting inspection stickers with the non dot tires. i got to have the atv rear and a nice meaty front tire

are there any riders in the va ky area

I would avoid the 87s but only because if the CDI dies, they are harder to find. 88-2000 have drum front brakes. 01-current are disc fronts and a carb change, other then that there are few minor changes.

This thread has some info about tuning the front forks. As a note Mr. Brackets website is having custom springs made to fit TW forks for more tuning options.

I can't answer the other questions, but I am sure someone who can will be by shortly.

after some reading i have noticed that the largest rear sproket i have heard people talking about is a 55t. that may be all that is needed or all that can be found so i thought id cheek a place i order all my sprokets from out and they can make one up to a 76t. i ordered a 54 for my xt600 and it was of the best quality and not a bad price for a custom sproket. there site is www.rebelgears.com

yea i thought there was like 5 within a four hr drive but after contacting them only 2 was still for sale and one was over priced 2300 for a 93 was a bit much and the other fell threw i think it may have been a kid messing that couldnt sell it. kinda a little fishy after a little hindsight.
