Hi All,

We have tried & TRIED to get our 98 to run good with a fouled carb

Our Enduro buddy says his mechanic can get it done for $80

We wanna do it ourselves

We have taken this carb off so many times, over & over, and she still runs foul. Idles like a dream. Starts right up

STILL RUNS FOUL!

??? HELP! ???

just got to get her back to the cowpatty with confidence

Have you taken each and every component out of the carburettor?

Have made sure it is meticulously clean?

Have you checked for wear or air leaks?

Have you set the float height, pilot needle and throttle needle correctly?

Is the air filter clean?

I had a problem once where my TW was running rich. A very long story cut short, after trying many different things, I finally bought a new main jet and when I compared it to the old one I could see the hole in the old jet had corroded larger. Replacing the old jet with the new jet made the bike run like a champ. It is something else for you check.

In the picture you can see the difference in the size of the holes in the #114 jets. (The #116 jet is in there for comparison.)

Tony, that's shocking, the brass looks eroded.

It does say in one of my old tuning manuals that you can't always trust the quality and tolerance of jets.

One of my TW125s would foul the plug very badly.

It was a worn emulsifying tube and a worn throttle needle which caused it to flow too much fuel.

It can be very frustrating.

Sly Fox, The only reason I changed the jet was because I had done everything else. I even had to order it from the dealer (it wasn't in stock!) and wait 4 days for it to arrive and the entire time I was thinking "this is a waste of money". But once I had the two jets side by side I knew my problem was solved!
