Hi guys,

I picked up a beat up 1998 tw200 and am slowly restoring it. What I can't figure out is how to remove the needle. I unscrewed the top cover and can see two little screws which I think are connected to the top of the slide. Can anyone help with a recommended method of taking the slide out? I've searched the board and googled it and can't find any info.

Thanks.

Remove the choke with a #12 wrench, take the top cover off (two screws), unscrew the shaft nut, unscew the cable mounting bracket, there is a snap ring around the shaft on the spring side inside the card that needs to be removed, slide the spring loaded shaft out enough to remove the slide, add a shim. I added only one shim to my carb.

Just remove the screw that holds that assembly to where the throttle comes through. That will allow you to raise the needle assembly. Clean the screw heads with it up. Slide it back down and use the right size screw driver to loose the 2 screws on the needle seat. They have very small threads so it is a lot of turning. You should be able to slide the needle out now.
