Help removing needle from old style carb

1293 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  greendub
Hi guys,

I picked up a beat up 1998 tw200 and am slowly restoring it. What I can't figure out is how to remove the needle. I unscrewed the top cover and can see two little screws which I think are connected to the top of the slide. Can anyone help with a recommended method of taking the slide out? I've searched the board and googled it and can't find any info.

Thanks.

Remove the choke with a #12 wrench, take the top cover off (two screws), unscrew the shaft nut, unscew the cable mounting bracket, there is a snap ring around the shaft on the spring side inside the card that needs to be removed, slide the spring loaded shaft out enough to remove the slide, add a shim. I added only one shim to my carb.

Problem is I see a lot of crud on top of the slide that I'd like to clean. Ronnydog, by following your method, would I be able to completely diassemble the neddle throttle assembly?

Yes check the blow up on bike bandit.com for your carb.
