ok so I picked up a 2008 HD 1200 custom...The stock bars are too low and too far away. I'm so hunched over my back is killing me. I need to be more uprite instead of my body being in a C shape.

Here are the stock bar specs on my sportster
Width: 28½"
Pull back: 4¾"
Rise: 3¾"

The new bars Im looking at are:
Width 33"
pullback 8"
Rise 6"

I sat on my sporty and closed my eyes and put my arms where im comfy...I need at least 2" higher and 2-3" closer

The flanders vintage triump bars seem to fit the bill with what I need

Is 3 1/4" more of pullback a drastic change?

Here is a pick of the bars I want to get on a different harley

Thanks for any help choosing new handle bars

Are those the mini ape hangers? I had those on my HD and really loved them. The problem will be if the cables are long enough. HD wants a billion bucks for crap like that.

BTW HD doesn't stand for Harley Davidson, it stands for Hundred Dollars. That's because anything from them cost at least that much... just sayin. :D

their probably considered mini mini apes lol...their only 6" High, but that's 2 1/4" higher then my current stock setup
A guy on the 1200C FB page said that 8" is allot of pullback

Here is the link for the bars...Not sure if it would put my wrist at weird angle,Most mini apes are 7" pullback

But thinking 8" pullback would be great for since I want to sit back and relax...I dont want that forward handlebar look

I couldn't find the right bars for me for my 1600 so I ended up making my own from 2 different bars. Tomorrow I'll take a pic and post it to show you what I did. If you are a good welder or brazer or know someone who is, it might be the way to go. It might save you a bundle of $ trying to find the perfect bars.

Wow, can really see the dust! This is what I did. Drag bars were too far of a reach, brazed on some "set back" from pieces of old bars. Going to turn aluminum plugs for the open ends of the extenders. Also turned some extenders for the bar ends to give the bars a little more spread.

When I got my 10 Fatboy, the bars were KILLING ME.
I put up with it for two years until the 12's came out. Sat on the same bike (12) at the dealer and the bars were perfect.
Went back to the service dept and the service manager gave me a set of take offs for free. He told me the service department gets TEN hours for the bar swap (everything runs through them). I needed an extension harness that required depinning and repining a molex connector.
Did the job myself. It took me 9.5 hours. Freaken tedious.
Your Sporty should not be that difficult. The cables wires and hoses should be the hard part.

Service manager said they scrap hundreds of pounds of new takeoff parts every couple of months because they can't sell them on ebay fast enough. Brand new factory exhausts, sissy bars, seats, pipes, etc.

On my 14 Ultra, I wish I didn't get the Vance and Hines Xpipe. That bike should be nice and quiet, and now it isn't. Can't hear the radio (I am so not used to a radio on a bike).
Never occurred to me to get the factory exhaust when they "upgraded" the bike.
Maybe I have to pay them a visit and bring them a case of beer...
