I bought my '03 brand new here in CA. When I plug it into the VIN de-coder, it also says "World Region - Asian." I believe the 8th VIN digit says what market the MC was manufactured for. The internet says "0" is a model manufactured for the CA market. My 8th VIN is a "0", so I suspect this is accurate. I suggest you call a Yamaha dealership or Yamaha customer service.

IImmgunn is correct. I just plugged in my Brazilian-made TTR and the decoder says it's a Brazilian market bike. It's actually a U.S., Cali bike as well. Not a very good decoder.
