It was a beautiful day in south Texas (around 85 degrees) so I took the TW out for a 50 mile ride around the hill country. I filled up with gas about halfway through the trip.

I noticed when I got home that I was hearing a hissing noise coming from the gas cap even after turning off the power and the petcock. Also, a strong gas odor was noticeable. I took off the gas cap, and put it back on and the hissing continued. I inspected the gas cap and the gasket seemed to be in good shape. Nothing noticeably wrong could be found.

Is this a normal decompression sound after a ride on a warm day?

Kinda weird that it was hissing after you released the pressure but I suppose if gas had splashed on the vent openings it could still hiss a little. I’ve never heard any of mine hiss.

Thanks for everyone’s feedback! I took it for another ride and it didn’t make the noise or smell of gasoline this time. I’ll keep an eye on it and let you know if I find anything else that might have contributed.
