Thanks Mrbracket

That's funny, I started to build an aluminum skidplate only to find I was unable to bend the 3/16s aluminum with my brake so out came the tubing bender.

I have been following your build and am very impressed with your work, and may have to copy some of your ideas

Thanks and Please do! And like Lance said: come on already... we want to see the finished product!!! We may be a "nice" group of people, but we are NOT patient!!!

It's getting closer. I got the plates cut out today. Hey mrbracket If you are thinking about making one I think I would use Sq tubing for the cross-bars a size smaller then the main frame and make a one piece plate, I came up with this while I was cutting out the four plates

The aluminum diamond plate looks great, but will "grab" onto whatever you come into contact with or permanently deform. I'm not trying to rain on your idea, but I used to do a lot of off road SCCA Pro Rallying and what you want is some teflon or cheaper UHMW plate that will just "slide" over rocks and not "grab" or permanently deform. The UHMW is very durable and comes in many different colors, easy to cut and not too expensive. You could probably get remnants in say 1/4" or 3/8" that wouldn't cost too much at a local plastic distributor.

You make a good point.

I was thinking about that, but the plates are small and I like the look of diamond plate it will already be the most heavly armored TW in the camp site
