Last Sunday Boarder 255 loaded up his camp gear in his Giant Loop and started back for home....but not before we sampled his loaded gear's off-road worthiness with a couple miles of shady singletrack.
Granted I catered him to a certain degree in base camp with stuff hauled in my Astro vanbulance but he really could have been totally self sufficient on his own by purifying surface water, sitting on a rock and eating something dehydrated cooked on his micro-stove. So I was impressed at the minimalist load-out possible when hammock camping in pleasant weather.
Anyways this is a neat trail that wanders through fractured volcanic breccia and dead ends at a Wilderness Boundary.

That was a kick to watch. Much better riding it I'm sure. It was cool as heck you riding through those rocks. I wish I was there. Better yet, I wish we lived closer together. Great vide Fred.

Side note question. How is your hip? At San Rafael Swell it still looked like it was bothering you during the healing process.

Really enjoyed that, and also one of my all time favorite songs (not the political side - I was a kid at that time), great harmony. The positive memories that surface with some songs.....good thing!

Hip is 95% of normal after total hip replacement surgery, better every day. I was overjoyed to be able to once again confidently hike cross country over broken ground in Saturday's fading twilight. I am still a bit slower and weaker though, makes me ride more cautiously.
