Has anyone had to replace their ignition switch? Some lowlife buggered up the one on my '13 the other night. The key still works, but with a little more effort than before. I worry too about rain getting into the innards.

Is there any trick to replacing it? Any special tools, security bolts and the like?

Anyone tried to get a new switch to match their existing key?

Man, and I was doing so well up until this.

Hi Doc,

It is not difficult to replace this switch, however it is a little difficult getting access to it. You will probably need to loosen the headlight mounting bracket so you can swing it forward out of the way enough to get to the switch mounting bolts which secure the switch to the underside of the top triple clamp. The electrical connections will just unplug from the wiring harness.

Thanks. I was hoping it would be relatively easy. I used to have a BMW F650, so I'm no stranger to removing parts to get to where I want to go.

Unfortunately, all my torx stuff is waiting to be shipped out here. May be a few months before I see them again.
