Definitely a long shot but we have a pretty large bike community here full of friendly and helpful people so this is my first stop. My buddy roasted the top end in his 2001 Kawasaki Ninja 250 last week. His first bike, ran it with low oil, learned his lesson the hard way. He's pretty bummed cause first bike and was his only mode of transportation around campus. I told him if we found a motor for it I'd help him install it.

So...anyone got an old Ninja 250 powerplant they'd be willing to part ways with??

It might honestly be easier and/or cheaper to sell his Ninja as a complete parts bike, save up for a while, and get another Ninja (or something else). In my area the third gen 250's are pretty cheap.

As far as motors, I'd check Ebay and Craigslist if you haven't yet.

EDIT: weirdly, after posting this, I've window shopped a little, and the available examples at this time all seem to be higher mileage and a little pricier than those I remember, from doing this more a few years ago.
