I have a TDI mixed gas certification at 60 FSW on 100% oxygen you would go in to oxygen toxicity and convulsions and drown.

Yup, and you'd be dead, too.

I'm going to print a t-shirt that says "SHARPER THAN A BUTTER KNIFE!" Thanks for the inspiration.

I don't think they had any of that stuff back when I was diving. Didn't need it, in the Keys--nothing very deep of much interest, considering our interests were naval architecture and lobster.

Because it makes you type slower, i was always told.

...early typewriters couldn't handle the speed.

Guess I'm going to find out if that's true.

slowing down the steno to stop key jam on early typewriters.
Exactly. The early typewriter keyboards were very similar to today's DVORAK keyboard. The typist got so fast that the keys stuck and of course the typist could not slow down their reaction times. The solution used was to arrange the most frequently used letters in more difficult positions to hit. And that was the QWERTY keyboard.

A typist that converts to the DVORAK keyboard increases speed about 40% within a month they say. And 80% of the typing is on the center row of letters. Home keys plus the center two. Less fatigue, less carpal tunnel.

When I learned to touch type at the ripe old age of 62 I decided to use DVORAK. The only drawback is that I can't type on a library computer and if on someone elses computer I'd need to set it up.

FWIW, here is QWERTY on the DVORAK keyboard. ',.PYF

FWIW(2), Dvorak is the name of the man that campaigned to bring back the original keyboard when it became practical. Didn't happen.

There's always the Maltron One-hand keyboard. Add a track ball and it could revolutionize porn and chatroom orgies.

Actually, the QWERTY keyboard was designed to separate the strikers of common letter pairs to prevent jams. It was not designed to slow typists down, but to speed typists up by preventing jams.
