Glad I bought 4 cases of .22 when the CMP was selling surplus stuff for $89 per 5000 round case :D. It keeps the Grandkids happy.

I was kind of lucky I guess. I bought a 1500 round brick for $15.00 before Sandy Hook and after a few weeks I forgot where I put it. I went to the same gun shop and bought another. Wouldn't you know it a month or so later I couldn't remember where I put that one too. I though I might have left it up at camp so I went an got another. When I got home with the third one I said I'm going to put this where I'll remember, Top shelf of the closet. What do you suppose I found there????

It was about 6-7 years ago. It was military surplus in sealed 5k cases, cut the main box open and there was a sealed foil bag, open the bag and there was another box full of 500 rnd bricks. It was all Remington ammo. Had to be a member of the CMP and it went FAST!

Won't see that again for many years, I remember when my son turned 12 in 1998 I went up to J&G GUNS Prescott AZ and bought a Yugoslavian AK-47 in new condition for $89.00 and a thousand rounds of Wolf 7.62x39 ammo for $69.00 will probably never see this again.

I'm doing an Appleseed shoot in a couple weeks.. Using my Ruger American .22 and my RRA AR15 for it.. I've shot dozens of CMP and NRA High Power matches and am looking forward to something a little different.

Here's a video on how to get started reloading inexpensively, and reload .38 Specials for the price of .22 LR. All the components to do so are far more readily available than .22 ammo.
