Did anybody use this tire -Kenda K270 Rear Tire 5.10-18- as front tire? Was actually looking for the Shinko 244 but could not find any (sold out). Using stock tire at the moment but want to try something else

Try Bikebanbit for the 244?? Lots of people have the Kenda 270 as well as the Goldenboy Shinko 244. Its a great tire to use as a front. I just put on the Shinko 244 in the 5.10-18

Thanks, but unfortunately Bikebandit does not accept my credit cards, billing address not in US. Will give the Kenda a try.

I just put one on my bike this weekend. Kenda K270 in 5.10-18 size. Fits well.

Looks great, how does it ride?

Peter,

I just put the 244 on D's bike, in the 5.10 size. The tire now has a couple days commuting to work (I don't have a normal commute . . .
all offroad) and a Saturday jaunt to Mission Ridge, and today about 12 miles of pavement on it. I am very impressed.

The tire mounted well, required so little weight to balance that I just skipped it. It is taller and heavier and I won't re-hash all that as it's been on here and on here, but I really want to mention the handling. The tire has a taller sidewall/profile which tends to increase the tail and really slows down the tire steer. Also, it doesn't deflect off of rollers in the roadway nearly as bad as the stocker. On gravel and dirt it is very predictable and steers just as easily and true as it gets.

Pictures of this tire did not do it justice. Until I had it in my hands and really looked it over, I was convinced it was too much of a compromise for me . . . . sigh. Wrong again. It's still pretty new, but I'm thinking that used like this bike is intended, as a trail bike, the Golden Boy 244/Kenda 270 is about as close as perfect as it gets.

Good Luck !!

I am very happy with my 5.10 Kenda K270. Tested it for 1000 miles or more now... on pavement, mud, trails, gravel, snow, just about anything the Northwest can throw at it.
Plus a week in Moab, Utah on slickrock that grinds down tires like nothing else... And it still looks brand new!
