Anyone going to see the eruptions?
Have visited the ongoing eruption last 30+ years from ocean at night, from a helicopters, hiking cooling crusts in exclusion zones, cut by Pele Hair, Acid vog has killed video camera ,melted shoes, a steaming caldera floor as it changes over the decades, crumbling fresh lava cinder beaches, and even from a few approved tourist vistas. But kilauea is really getting wild lately and more capable of harm. Of the 24 fresh vents in the Puna district Fissure #8 is flowing unusually fast and furious, much more liquid than the typical turtle paced surface flows.

Here is a Facebook showing lava rapids and extremely fast surface flows. https:// m.facebook.com/100000692913720/posts/1972379369461808/

Anyways tourism is suffering but it is an incredible life experience so go if you can.

My son and his family was over there this spring. The resort and bay they stayed are now all gone and covered in lava. Sad. I'll see if I can find his posted videos. He walked several hot areas, taking a stick and testing the ground in front of him. If the stick caught fire, it was too hot to walk!! Ha!

No turtle's pace here! Fissure 8 is really pumping it out fast. Very atypical for this eruptive sequence.

.

Still better than eastern 1/20th of the island sluffing off and creating the mother of all tsunamis.

Gee Joe, you're an adventurous guy too. Bet you and the family have visited here, likely left the rent-a-car on this parking lot to peer into the caldera floor. This whole area was closed when I last visited as it was venting massive clouds of VOG, hydrogen sulfide and steam.
