Supposedly, this is a prototype of the upcoming 390 ADV model. I actually think it's a pretty good little article, and so far the bike looks great! For sure, I am a bit concerned by the low suspension travel and ground clearance. However, I do also realize that that is exactly what some people are looking for, because of the complementary low seat height (although Yamaha managed to give us both a very low seat height and excellent ground clearance in the same model - the XT250...). This could be a great little option, and actually has a rather slim chance of ending up parked in my yard :) I excitedly await further development news and eventual production-debut.

Nice!
I like the simplicity of a linkless rear shock.
Little things like that help keep the cost, maintenance, and weight down.

I've heard of "lowering link". With that and what you're mentioning "linkless". What do these terms mean?

Kris, this may be too simplistic and not totally accurate but our TWs are "linkless" in that the shock absorber is directly attached to swing arm and frame unlike your son's KX where there is pivoting connecting bar between shock and swing arm that can effectively generate a progressive spring rate due to variable geometry as the shock, link, and swing arm all rotate/deflect through the wheel travel range. A lowering link replaces the stock link with one of a different length thus changing the geometry slightly resulting in the bike squating a bit lower un-loaded. Good for the inseam challenged. Go look at Kyle's bike.

Um...has anyone here owned a KTM? They are not cheap to own and/or run. If you treated any KTM like a TW you will have grenade in no time! They are great bikes but treat them like a razor edged race bikes or you will be in a world of pain!
I've been really dreaming of a hard core enduro race bike, because I'm at a point where I could actually use one to its potential, or at least close. The thing is, technically, I could find a way to go out and buy a new Beta...but yea, it would not be good for my financial situation; I feel that it would be irresponsible :( Kind of like having a new Lamborghini parked outside a $500/month apartment in downtown Ghettoville, lol... Even so, it's a serious temptation!
