Day 2.

Fred arrived a day earlier than we expected. So we headed to Toroweap.

It was awesome

It was the longest mileage day Mrs Admiral or I have ever ridden on a TW. Around 225. Butt fatigue!

Took a side trip over to Mt. Trumbull schoolhouse. Neat history.

Unfortunately, Kanab’s trails have way too much sand to be fun on a TW. We are moving to a new location with hopefully less sand. I like riding sand and this stuff wears you out quickly. But yesterday’s ride is one for the record book.

Day 3.
While deciding exactly where and when to move, we decided to ride. Can think better when riding right?

So we decided to move to Bryce Canyon area...

Day 4.
So we decided to ride into Bryce Canyon NP in the afternoon once we settled in to our new camp location.

Great thing about dual sport motorcycles, one day riding a trail, the next day paved road

Natural Arch was very neature.

The move from the “sand trap” (Kanab)was well worth it!

Even the dogs approve of the move

Tired but smiles aplenty after day 4

Yes, wonderful scenery everywhere. I think we’ve got this camping with more dogs than children figured out. Dogs get along thank goodness.

Not sure of the road you’re mentioning but we rode a crap ton of roads/trails along the west side if Bryce. Yup, and today we’re riding Red Canyon and Castro Canyon.

I headed in from Bryce Canyon City on 096 then made my way past the reservoir and followed 087 south.
There are numerous roads and trails in the area that lead to some stunning views of Bryce Canyon.

Admiral & I agree.

Castro 'twas our last day riding together. Real easy, real scenic.
So nice we rode it twice.

In-and-out with a delightful detour to several overlooks on a dead end side spur. Indeed, the road less traveled often has its own rewards.

We definitely had a good ride.

The Admirals were great hosts. They let me indulge in taking them through a few minor bucket list items like riding the same eroded landforms that comprise several national parks only on adjacent public lands. For example we could see from up high in Bryce Canyon National Park that the same deeply carved hoodoos of the Claron Formation (a Tertiary suite of limestone, siltstone, dolomite & mudstone ) exposed just to the west in the adjacent valley the Admirals located our second camp in. So indeed the next day we all rode up, over, around and under some pretty dramatic terrain.
Besides being excellent riding companions they do make a cute couple together too.

The aspens fall colors were starting to pop above 8,000 ft. adding another pleasing note to otherwise plain old good riding conditions.

Riding Bryce Canyon NP on the bikes was very rewarding. Crowds were not too bad making it easy to pull off and enjoy lookouts when not just rubber necking from the saddle.

Still prefer up close and personal on the bikes like the view from our lunch break.

Yeah, our camp was in between 087 and 096 somewhere on those braided roads. Our travels took us up and down the valleys and ridges to the south as you mention. Saw some nice Mule Deer bucks and does.

Even though our "group" was small, it felt empty when you left. However, we had a great time riding with you. Thank you so much for coming and showing us Toroweap. Good Times!

Castro Canyon i really like

Even though singletrack was not on our menu, thanks for the Bryce Canyon tip. Your mention of the area was the deciding factor on where to move when we did.

I have a huge complaint about Castro Canyon...it's way too short!

Day 5. Paunsaugunt Plateau
Beautiful valley and the Aspens were turning color

Cooler temperatures riding through the Aspens made it smell like fall.

Close to the southern end of the day we finally found what Fred was hoping to find and see up close and personal and not from the blacktop road in Bryce Canyon NP (which is still great).

Don't park to close to the edge or you'll find yourself falling off the cliff into a roadside canyon

It made me very nervous to park here

We enjoyed our visit to this place for sure
