ok so i got a headlight idea from a member over at supermotojunkie (see thread below)...not even sure that this is doable yet, just spitballing...

http://www.supermotojunkie.com/showthread.php?137426-Headlight-my-way

i was thinking of doing something similar to this by modifying one of these headlight cowls (below links) or some type of number plate and remove the lights to install 2 of these 3-up led lights and use one of them as a high beam (even though they would be the same output)...any electrical gurus think this would be possible on a TW?...i assume i would probably have to test everything on my bike to figure out what i'm using for wattage and see how much i have left to play with...not sure there is an exact way to convert wattage (measure of power) to lumens (measure of light)...i saw something that you would have to have the efficiency of the leds in lumens/watt and i can't find this number...oh and don't care about the legality of it as i would make it totally reversible if i wanted to put the stocker back on...

Extremely bright enough!,but not street legal

correct but is anything we do street legal...i put on new signals and a tail light on my bike and none of it is DOT approved why not add one more thing...plus the chopper shop that inspects my bike doesn't seem to care

i wonder if i could find street legal leds that are installed in cars and use those...the problem would be that the housing/projector isn't DOT...so not matter what it wouldn't be DOT so why try...

Man, that looks like it might just make a damn fine direct replacement for the stocker! Sold in pairs though, so you'd have to go in on it with a buddy for it to make sense. Even then, you can put on some pretty serious auxiliary lighting for $125. I notice the letters "DOT" don't seem to appear anywhere on that page either, but it seems like that ship has sailed on this thread anyway!

It would be pretty cool to see one of those peering out from a stock TW headlight cowl!

A few local shops have them and a few online vendors. I have a 40 inch led bar on my truck and side by side and its brighter than daylight. Since led uses the least amount of power, i think this 6 inch one will be perfect

that looks pretty sweet...i'm debating on either doing away with the stock light or building it into the headlight cowl above the headlight

Hey Point37, might your "doing away with the stock headlight" be similiar to my idea of a LED headlight replacement?

Check out my replies in this thread to see what I'm talking about

Brighter Light For Early TW Thread

I'd like to keep the LED headlight conversation going and hear if you've recently uncovered anything. More light = safer riding.

Have you made any headway on the headlight Point37? I'm wanting to get mine done when I replace the battery and turn signals this winter. Was thinking about throwing a 35w bulb in this KC driving light since my 87's headlight coil was designed for that wattage, but if I could find a feasible LED setup as another option that would be nice. Great bike btw, it's been the blueprint I'm leaning most towards, great bike.

Some of these might work to keep you DOT friendly... Little pricey though.

LED Headlight Housings and LED Bulbs
