Good call on the screen protector film, I think I'm going to try that.

What is the general headlight aiming procedure? Is there a way to measure the cutoff at a certain distance on a wall or something?
Thanks.. The screen protector works well.

There is next to no adjustment. A slotted mounting hole. I kept it high as possible, so it will be seen . Had lots of compliments on how bright it is also..
I made up a small new pigtail to link the DRL wire to the low beam wiring, so the white band is viable when low beams are on. Di-electric all the connectors also when in there..

Happy trails!

Yeah.
I used a piece of 1/4" thick dense foam, cut to fit around the headlight but inside the shell.
Sort of a rectangular donut.
Works well.

Update: I recently had the headlight manufacturer change the DRL from red to white.

Damn.
Too late for me.

Anybody wanna swap a red DRL unit for a white one?

This cool light is also on the ProCycle website, same price. https://procycle.us/bikepages/tw200.html#electrical
But...they offer free shipping on orders of $300 or more.
If you are planning a large order from ProCycle, add this light and save the shipping...$14.00 to Texas.

LOTS of TW coolness on that site!

Thanks, i'll try it out, how is that foam holding up to the elements ?
Stuff I used was real dense. Like an old mouse pad dense, but twice as thick. Holding up real well.
I first cut the piece to fit inside the front cowl. Then I cut the inside to just fit over the headlight. Pressed all the way onto the headlight before mounting the headlight cowl makes it a breeze to install. The cowl holds it on.

The lense (which is plastic unlike the glass of the stock one) scratches REALLY REALLY easily. I went to wipe a smudge off it with my riding gloves and put a ton of marks in it on accident (see picture below). Not good for a bike that will more than likely have tree branches, brush, and who knows what else rubbing on that lense.
Try some Meguiar's Scratch X2.0 on the scratches. In a small area first, of coarse. Unless the lense is soft like the stock body work. Micro-fiber cloths dull it.

Question, so basically connect a red lead from the battery, to this "red connector", and it will be on?
This is the one thing that I don't like about this light. I wish JNS did something else with this so-called DRL with the extra lead. Why wouldn't you want to run it? The best thing to do IMHO is to splice it into the low beam wiring, so when the low beam is on, so is this DRL. You wouldn't want to run it straight to the battery without a installing a switch, or it would just be on all of the time until your battery died. Having just the lead gives you flexibility, I understand. I've seen some wire it to the circuit of their switched pod lights for example. I just wish that to keep it simple that they had it pre-wired to the low beam circuit.

Perhaps separate lead was due to the original supplied lights from JNS having red light emitting LEDs in the daytime running light circuit. Any red or blue forward facing lighting on motor vehicles operated on public roads in most states are rather illegal, thus one could possible switch off the red DRL when on public roads to avoid getting pulled over. One would not want to be accused of falsely impersonating an emergency vehicle.
However I believe the red LEDs have been subsequently deleted.

Yes, the earlier versions of this light had red LED's for the "DRL". Mine came this way, I believe the previous owner installed it circa 2017. Powering the single red wire illuminates the "DRL" bar, but it's red. With the normal low beam on it mostly overpowers it, but why it wasn't white in the first place is beyond me. From what I've heard the newer/current versions now illuminate white. And yes, in most areas having a front facing red light is illegal for anything but emergency vehicles.

Now, in my experience that rule is pretty loosely enforced. Cops aren't robots and can see that a red accent light is not the same as bright strobing emergency lighting. But yes, technically, you could be ticketed for this, in the same way you could be ticketed for using a non-DOT ATV tire on the rear of your bike, using a non-EPA approved exhaust, non-DOT approved turn signals, or any number of other modifications that technically aren't legal.

Wow, yeah, I had no idea that that DRL used to be red. They seem to have made a change for the better changing it to white. I wish the next improvement they make is to just wire in the DRL into the low beam circuit, eliminating the extra pigtail so the light is fully plug and play as described. This video helped me decide to purchase the JNS headlight, and a at 6:50 it shows why I want the DRL on with the low beam.

Yes, I want to run it direct to the battery, with a switch. But what terminal to connect that red wire to, that comes out the light unit. The pos or the neg on the battery?

I just want to turn it to flash my riding buddies, if I need to get their attention.

Positive battery terminal to switch, switch to red lead on light. I would think that the high beam and the horn would be better to use to get buddies' attention though. Good luck, and happy riding.
