Leds and dimmer install

First i removed the instrument panel and unplugged it from the harness. Then i traced out the panel on a piece of flat aluminum .

Then i used a 3M double sided sticky foam to hold the dimmer to the new aluminum panel. The dimmer is very close in size to the stock instrument panel.

I didnt have to do any factory wire cutting or splicing which was nice. The high beam wire for the instrument panel is a bullet type connector that Y's into the highbeam. I used a bullet connector on the high beam wire from the dimmer and plugged it directly into the spot were i pulled out the high beam wire from the instrument panel and i did the same for the toggle switch on the low beam for the HID install.

Next i made a wiring harness with a 5amp fuse and ran it to a toggle on the dash then to the dimmer so i can cut all power to it if i need to. The switch is a bit overkill but is weatherproof and was cheap! A bit over $6.00

Next i put my velcro clock on the dimmer box. Then i mounted the 12volt plug in on the front of the new toggle switch panel. The led dimmer comes with a waterproof remote control that lets you turn off the leds while on low beam and dim then to your prefered setting. If you set them at say 30% then turn them off, when you turn them back on they will be a the same setting you left them. Now anytime you hit the high beams the led's come on full power with the brights and they are not adjustable when on with the brights and thats one reason i wired in a toggle so i can turn them off if needed. I put the controller on mykey chain and put velcro on the back of it and on the toggle panel where it is sitting in the pic so the controller will stay put when riding.

Then i mounted the 44's "which are 22watts a piece"on the tusk deflex handguards with a bolt through the slot were the guards mount to the bars. Also i upgraded to the heavy duty light mount. The lights are angled out to the sides a bit and i did this on purpose. The led's pick up just inside the edge of the HID's high beam pattern so i have light way to the sides for seeing into corners and for suicide deer and other critters.

The toggle on the left is for the hid and the right is for the led's.

These are the same lights dustyg has. He did a post on the night pics with his pointing in with the high beams. I will get a few pics hopefully tonight with my setup pointing to the sides a bit. These lights are great and put out alot of light everywhere. So basically you run a fused set of wires"red=positive/black negative" from your battery to the dimmer box input "i went to a toggle switch first". Then the output side of the box wire the lights into the positive and negative wires of your lights and the box has a purple wire for the high beams which i ran off of the plug for the little blue high beam indicator that i took out of the instrument panel or you can just posi-tap into the highbeam wire somewhere along the way if you want to keep your panel.
