Hey, all... haven't been here in a while - in fact, got pretty confused till I looked around and realized that the forum has been revamped, and I had to re-register. Anyway, I've been enjoying my TW all summer, but mostly on the street. I took it on some unpaved roads through a state forest area, and ended up with an impatient pick-up driver on my tail (I'm new to riding "off piste"

) I want to take a dirt bike class, as I realize that it's a different animal than street riding, but I'd also like some places where I can get my feet wet (literally as well as figuratively) on my sweet little dual-sport. Any NY upstaters (Albany area) have any suggestions?

I know its a bit out of your way...but I was stationed at fort drum north of watertown. Me and my buddies had lots of fun on the trails around the black river. No particular portion. Nearly the whole river around for drum has a wide variety of trails. Most of wich are filled with old building and structure to explore. Its very beautiful country to explore. I used to love to go down ther in the spring time when there was about a foot of snow. When it is starting to melt and make a little mud

northern new york is good riding, good fishing and beautiful wilderness. If it wasn't for the gun laws I would have stayed

Well, I found a real fun dirt/gravel-road adventure today... will post details soon. This is one sweet lil' bike!

I'm from an hour or so north of Ft Drum, and can agree: we have MANY miles

of state forest trails, poorly paved and public access gravel roads.

There used to be some really nice enduro trails, but some are closed up now

due to erosion from the 4wheelers. NYSDEC is slowly regulating everything

to the point of unusable, so if you want to see some of it, come earlier

rather than later.



If anyone's in the area, let me know and I'd be glad to show you a few nice

roads when I get the TW running a little better. It's getting pretty cold

up here; no snow yet, and the leaves aren't all off. It's pretty nice

riding if you like long underwear.



I plan to take the TW up on some serious offroad trails on private land

tomorrow; have to run all that old gas out of the TW somehow :-D

I'll take some pictures (might even have one that qualifies for the photo

contest) while I'm up there and post 'em up. The trails were cut by my

brother and I in lifted Jeeps and a Toyota Hilux truck, and they're all

quite a challenge for the old yamaha blaster we've got kicking around.

Ought to provide quite a ride on the TW.
