Tpar and i rode 180 miles today and we found the "less traveled road"

This is the "big tunnel" in southern indiana. The whole thing is built out of bricks. Im guessing its about a half mile long. Yes i had to ride through it and back.

This is the Solsberry viaduct in southern indiana. I believe its 160' tall. Its the biggest one i know of around this part of the country.

Looks small until you get close to it.

It would be very impressive if you rode across that viaduct.

I often chuckle at the different names folks have come up with for roads. So what came first the saying "road less traveled" or the road sign? Giggle. Reminds me of the road we have around here called "Chicken Dinner". Who came up with that! And why!



Thanks for the tunnel. I am so drawn to train stuff. And they named it the "Big Tunnel" to boot! Another chuckle at how someone came up with a name. We have some old raised viaducts around here, but not nearly as impressive as that one. Without knowing the history, I'd have probably thought it was a train trestle. And you are right, it's looks a lot bigger up close.

Its 2,295 ' long and 180' high. Ive watched a train cross it at about 11pm on a full moon night and that was cool. I have walked across it before and had a thought of riding across it but there are a few boards missing here and there. Here is a link with some info.
