I need to lower the bike for the wife, from all the research I have done it seems that replacing the shock with the vstar shock will lower it the most, does anyone have one laying around? or is there another shock that will work. does anyone know if the Vstar 650 shock will work? I cant seem to find a 1100 Vstar one anywhere.

thanks

Those are for a 650 vstar...It is my understanding that they are not the same as an 1100, and that it is the 1100 shock that can interchange....

The 650 shock is 11 1/4 in from eye to eye. Do we know what the TW shock is eye to eye??

Found this thanks to Gerry.

2) The stock shock, eye to eye is 13". Should you go LONGER or SHORTER the difference will have (about) 3X the impact on your seat height. Get a 12" shock, and your seat (R. wheel to fender) height will be 3" less.

I understand about the length, however I assumed that the 650 just wouldnt fit. I wis I had known, the 650 shocks are a lot cheaper.

seems you still want to find the id of the mounting holes, for they may need to be enlarged. You should be able to get a general idea of spring rates by checking aftermarket options for the two bikes. My V-Star setup was notably softer than the TW, but still fine for modest (slow) rough offroad surface. By the looks of it, I would be willing to gamble $25 on the 650 shock if the hole id can be made to work. All this mod stuff involves some risk and financial gamble. Gerry
