I tried buying a Moose rack for my TW here in Canada, but found that a problem. So I bought some pre-bent pieces of 3/4 EMT, a piece of straight, a piece of tubing to fit inside the 3/4 as a gusset, and a piece of 1/8flat bar. Created my own rack. Had a piece of thin strong 90 degree bent sheet metal that I utilized to fit between the back seat and the fender plastic. I added a lower section to the rear so I can mount a Rotopax to the back behind my action packer... I made brackets that fit to the rear signal light mounts, and a small T bracket that sits on the rear stock plastic to support weight. The whole project cost me about 70 cdn. and was lots of fun to build. <I will try to add pictures now>
Nice work!

Rack looks great,

I rode last weekend through the deep sandy trails in Michigan's Upper Penninsula. We did an overnight trip, so I had to carry all of my stuff on the bike. We were staying in a hotel, so no camping gear was needed. I like to keep things simply, but I found myself simply not having enough storage space for the simple luxury of a pair of shoes and shorts for the post-ride hang. So - time to upgrade the gear. I searched the internet looking for exactly the right moto dry bag for the TW200 and the beloved Cyclerack. I found the Nelson Rigg SE-3000 Adventure Deluxe Dry Bag for $98 on Revzilla. It is just the right width and opens from the top, not the ends. I moved my spare fuel bottles from the top to the bottom of the rack to make room for the bag. I'm ready for anything now. I could easily store my camping gear in here as well. I modified two fire extinguisher holders and bolted them to the rack. The fuel bottles are held on with two small Titan straps.

I did a group ride with pals from the BMW Touring Club of Detroit. Many of us have 1200GS's, but I didn't want to slug that pig through the deep sandy trails. We rode from St. Ignace to Grand Marais, spent the night, then rode back. One of our guys knit together a nice ride with as much dirt/single track as we could find. I could have done it with the GS, but it was a hoot on the TW.

Hello John Smallberries,

I noticed in this image you have a Giant Loop Exhaust-Bag shield. Did you previuosly have a GL bag-system? If so, why are you not using it any more? I'm trying to figure out to go soft-bag or with the Cyclerack?

That looks great and at a pretty decent price.
Are the straps that you have it tied to the rack with part of the Nelson-Rigg bag or separate?

John Smallberries - Thank you for your response! Any chance you have a photo of your TW with the GiantLoop bag on the bike? Does it fit over the CycleRack? Sorry for all the questions, but you seem to have done it both ways and I am trying to figure out which is the best way for me to go tent camping off the TW as best possible as in best possible lightweight option. The CycleRack provides a lot of options for around the house grocery gettin' but too, my main focus will be setting it up to camp as light as possible! If I don't have to use the CycleRack with the GiantLoop bag setup, I may opt to run first without it. Also, what GiantLoop bag do you have?

He GCRad
Yes - I have a Giant Loop bag and have used it in the past. I like the convenience of the big rectangular bag on the CycleRack. The GiantLoop is good for small flexible stuff.

Hi. It may be two weeks before I can. I am heading out to AriOna to ride the Backcountry Discovery Route on my GS. The little TW is the better bike for this trip, but peer pressure has me on the Big Bike!

Has anyone mounted an acerbis aux fuel tank on one of these racks? And if so which rack? I was thinking of picking one up to use on the TW and my XT600E. The site won’t let me post a link to it because I’m a noob. But they’re on just tanks in universal tanks. Honda used to make a rack that it fit onto for their XL600. My buddy has one for his Honda and it’s a nice tank.

Dubs, never seen a TW with any of the several Acrbis tanks.
The Acerbis front and handlebar tanks look like they would conflict with the TW's switchgear, cowling, Jimbo shield, etc. Fuel tank Auto part

Their rear tank, like the front tanks, are designed to be mounted vertically. Cap and vent are not good for horizontal mounting. Vehicle Auto part Car Moped Trailer

While nice that siphon fuel delivery can be had with the Acerbis tanks one never sees them on TWs on this forum. The RotoPaks, and Kolpins to a lesser degree, are universally chosen here. Tough, strong seals, integral funnel, flelxible mounting and available mounts are possibly why.
