I got a molded tool case for power drill kit from a thrift store for 30 cents. Cut the molding out of the middle and bolted it down where the existing screws are on back fender. Cant beat it!

Made a rack from $4 electrical conduit. Bending that crap sucked! Not quite square
but works great.

I like this idea! Thanks!

you have to use the flat kind with a zipper and cut four small holes in the corners to run the bungee through, worked great!

I think Payne's got a good idea too if you want a hard case, just gota be creative if you don't want to spend lots of moneys

If I didn't already have the big box on the back, or if I ever want to go minimal. I'd get a 1/4" thick plastic cutting board (approx. 9" x 12") and drill three holes so it would replace the black pad on the fender.

I'd drill 1/4" holes down the sides about 2 " apart, and use a bungee net and cords to hold packages on the board.

A thermal soft sided lunch box would make a good waterproof container that could be kept under the net.

I'd have to go out to the garage and look at the rear fender to be sure, but I think a bit of metal strap could be used to beef up two of those mounting screws. Running the strap from the frame on one side up to where the nuts are in the fender and down to the frame on the other side.

srs713 is on to something with the cutting board for a rack. I use the same material for engine mounts for my R/C combat planes and never had a failure. Easy to machine and plenty stout. I suggest a canoe bag atop the board. My canoe bags came from Walmart, cheap, 100% waterproof, adjustable for any load from a pair of sneakers for treking beyond the "NO MOTORIZED VEHICLE" signs to clothes for a 2-week trip, and will not slide out from underneath bungies run through the "handle".

Do you know where to get the bungee nets?

After reading some reviews for them, and remembering my own experience, I have a suggestion.

When you get the net, pull the little rubber caps off the hooks, drip a drop of super-glue in them, then replace the caps.

That will keep the cap on so the hook is less likely to scratch paint or plastic.

This should work for any bungee cord with a plastic cap on a metal hook.

Yesterday I built this rack for my 2005 TW200. made it from #3.50 worth of metal I purchased at Pacific Steel and Recycling in Boise.

After looking at several different designs online I made the mounts to attach to the bolts under the seat and the signal light brackets. I decided on this design as I am apprehensive about the racks that extend down to the middle of the bike. They seem to be a great way to hook passing brush and this would happen because I do mostly off road riding. I can imagine the wreck happening and me ending up on my forehead.

I can not seem to get my photo attached.
