Well, if you want to live in a Senior Community in a warm climate.....like the Villages or Sun City.....you can sign up for an email listing the available units every morning......after they take the roll....
Honestly, I would rather jump off a bridge than live in Sun City. There's a Sun City in the Riverside, CA area that's situated between a hospital and a mortuary like an end of life conveyor belt. How depressing!

That better not be a recent pic, and you didn't lemme know you were passing through!
Yes, pie and lots of yummy lunch specials!
Only just learned of your location:)

The cross country ride was a few years ago.

I think I have one more coast to coast left in my tank.

I have a half dozen friends that live in Sun Citys in Arizona....they love it....no maintenance....safe, secure environment.... very convenient shopping and medical facilities.......a wide variety of social activities from golf to poker.

A lot like middle school with talking about sex and sitting at the right table and gossiping about others.

We are going to die....at 83.4 no one know that better than me....when you live that long, you have lost most of your friends and family and many of those still living have a variety of debilitating problems..... " It is what it is " as that great existentialist philosopher Bill Belichick points out.

I like the four seasons....it takes me 4 or 5 hours to clear the snow after a storm here......as long as I am outside and active, I am happy. My doctor says walking or riding on uneven or unstable ground *assuming you don't fall." is not only good for your body but also your mind.... I think there is a benefit to be around people of different ages....

The kids have promised to shoot me if I end up going to Costco every morning to have coffee and bitch about the government with a bunch of old farts...

Sorry for the long post....I am going hiking....:)

Actually, If there was a place that was higher-end homes, 2+ acres in the forest, and was only 55+, no kids - I would be all over it.
I have always wondered why there is not a sud-division like that here in the Black Hills. Seems like there would be a nitch market for a place like that.
Not all the tennis courts and game rooms are any of that. Senior Center is what that is for if you're looking for those things.

California has some great climates with mild winters. Cost of living most places is pretty high though. Fortunately lots of employment opportunities, especially now with just signed house bill 960. New law stipulates that you don't even have to be a US citizen or reside in California to be employed by Highway Patrol, law enforcement or to be a corrections officer. Pensions and benefits are pretty good with these government jobs. Come as a tourist and work for a bit before going home, you don't even have to speak english.

Well it's been six days and seventy-one posts since you're initial inquiry James. Have ya figured out your crusade's next step as of yet? Here ya are. A little traveling music. No doubt a few from the SoCal locale will recall these folks. I still whistle this tune when turning a key to traverse the country side.

I built this pole barn in Winlock WA in 1996-97 in two phases the first thing" I ever built

back then the economy was booming it was impossible to get any contractors so I built everything myself even bought a dozer and backhoe to prep the site

I did hire a crew to pour the concrete but I did all the form and tied all the rebar myself

I set all the 6x12" poles myself and erected the trusses and did all the metal work myself

took 6 months to do phase two my neighbor hired 50 Mexicans and had his building done in 10 days no lie lol

every day on my way home from work to work on my shop I spent $200 at Home Depot it made me appreciate what actually went into a finished home and now I would only buy finished homes

I would never do another pole barn even though it served me for 20 years w/o issue

I new would build steel frame so much easier, cleaner and durable

I was on the end of a half mile long private drive which was nice buy paying and maintaining all that gravel was a bitch

16' eves I had half with an upstairs living area it was a very nice place to work although it was right in I-5 mile post 66 1/2 in WA state if I closed my eyes it sounded like
Sky Plant Bonfire Tree Wood

a river lol

Well ive bout decided on the area of Leesburg Florida. Ive been there and its sorta of a laid back area which is what I want. There are a couple of large lakes around there which you get a little breeze in summer months and just a tad bit more cooler, just a tad. Cost of living isnt terrible, just about a 9 hr drive from where im at now Shelby NC so I can visit friends here when ever. Going down around the first of march and spend a month or so there and explore! Well I was born in St Petersburg lived there till was 6 hell why not go back. And another thing hurricane,s dont usually hit this area too bad. I appreciate every ones thoughts . I really do. TWs FOREVAH!!!! Thanks boys and girls!!

I've lived in Leesburg Fl. back in the late 80's.... it was nice then, but it has really changed... I work in Las Cruces, NM and actually working here now till next week.... I like it here, little dusty but really no earthquakes, tornadoes, or hurricanes... Lol... Today was in the 60's, got into a snow storm coming down... lol

I like Las Cruces.... but again I live in Colorado.... Lol

Best on your decision....

If you can tolerate Cruces, you're very easy to please!

Hi James,
I moved to New Mexico from the east 9 years ago and absolutely love it! I am in the northern end of the state where we get a real winter, but I have traveled the state extensively with the TW on the back of my van. I often make trips to Las Cruces in the winter to ride, hike, rock climb, and bike. I like it there, but I'm liking the small town vibe these days (I live in Los Alamos). It does get quite warm there, but coming from the east you won't even notice! There are many incredible places that I could recommend, but it would probably be easier to tell you which areas to steer clear of. Let me know if you would like some more detailed info.
Cheers,
Mark
