A member , Indika666, posted the following info on a different thread:

My exhaust have that type of hole at the bottom and am pretty sure it's was done at the factory. (mine is a 2006 JDM model)
And as mentioned the main culprit for exhaust rust is very short rides that build up moisture without allowing muffler to warm up properly.
So make sure you take a long ride before storing the bike for days...!

I asked him for pictures of his exhaust but he seems to have gone off-line. Does anyone have a model similar to his that has the drain holes he talks about? Would you be willing to post pictures? Thanks - Nels

Hey apologies for the delay. Had 2 busy weeks at office. Our project went live. So had no time to ride. Just saw your post and message.
Here are some pics. I'll upload some clear pics in the day time. If you need any measurements pls ask. Just can't figure out from where to measure.

Cool!! I was not worried about you getting back with the pictures but more concerned that you weren't on the forum anymore. Any idea of the size of the hole in mm or in? I can see the general location and that is close enough for me. It looks like they are trying to protect the outer canister from the moisture collected in the final can.

Yes the outer canister doesn't easily warm up if you don't take quite a long ride.
And since we don't get the spark arrestor there is a good chance rain water getting into the exhaust.
I will measure the diameter as soon as i get home today.
