I found a little time the other day to go for a ride around my backyard. Since I truly enjoy the ride reports you all share, I thought I would try to pay you back by sharing my ride. I hope you enjoy it.

Wells Fargo office in Silver Reef, the only place in North America where silver was found in sandstone. A little history here, if you're interested.

More of Silver Reef

On around the loop to Smith's Mesa.

There are some petroglyphs under this big rock.

Looking east from the edge of the mesa.

More shots.

This little river is responsible for the canyons of Zion National Park.

Looks like I might get wet.

Almost home.

For a time we commuted to the Richfield area on a semi-monthly basis. On one of our last trips we did Silver Reef and some of its environs in a Vibe. It was intended to be a quick "offramp" trip just to see the town, but the further we went the cooler things looked. lol.

Discretion being the better part of valor (and to save the poor car) after a couple of hours we gave it up, vowing to return with our TW's.

It's on our "future honeymoon redux" list.

Thanks guys, and gal! If any of you come this way let me know and I'll be glad to share some suggestions for places to go and things to check out. Spring and Fall are the best times of year since it gets kind of warm during the summer. Well, actually there are enough mountains around here that you don't have to go far to get up out of the heat.

I don't know where he resides, but Silver Reef if just a bit north of St. George, off of Interstate 15. Moab's a good 300 north and east of there.

Not an ugly acre in between, IMO.

Yeah, I'm in the extreme southwest corner of the state. Moab is near the eastern border, about half way up. So, not that close but like Lizrdbrth said there's a lot of beautiful country in between. I had planned to ride to Moab this summer, picking up the eastern side of the Hole in the Rock trail, and the White Rim trail in the process. Unfortunately, it didn't work out but gives me something to look forward to for next year!
