Well I started my transformation of my TW into a full blown adventurer bike

Before Photo

I added some bits

It came out looking like this

Took it for a test ride in some sand

Still a large tank to add yet. But looking good. Very good in the sand.

how is it on the street?! turning, leaning, weight, etc. i LOVE the back tire but figure it would be hard to lean it. i like scraping footpegs:)

Back tyre is better than what I thought it would be on the street. Not that noisy either. But I'm still mindful of what I have on the back so haven't

pushed it yet on the street. The tyre does corner okay.

Front tyre will be changed to a proper motocross tyre.

Looks great! How do you like the footpegs? Is that a blaster shock you are running?
Footpegs are great. I have another set on my other adventure bike which I've done many miles on. Honestly I wouldn't ride with

anything else. The wide platform of the peg just makes it more comfortable on the pegs.

Yes it is the Blaster Shock I put in.

Very nice. That looks like hour glass sand. What's it really like going through that stuff? How much longer is that shock from stock? Does the headlight guard diminish the light output noticeably? Your gauge is showing two different temps. What else is it measuring besides ambient? I think you're going to have a lot of fun with your little mountain goat. Keep us posted on any new installs

This is exactly what I hope my TW is when it grows up!!

I am sure you will get a ton of questions about this setup.

Your computer and mount (I have not done any searching online as of yet, but will be looking up "Voyager" for sure) is that a TW specific mount for the computer? Difficult install? any info on that will be appreciated!

Great looking bike!

Hopefully I can answer all of these questions.

Shock is about 2" longer

Headlight, I dont know yet as I haven't ridden it at Night. When I go adventurer riding we always stop by 4pm to set up camp. Oh, when I say adventurer riding we normally go for a couple of weeks.

The computer, photos below. The mount wasn't TW specific but it was easy enough to install with a couple of small mods.

I took off my cable speedo ,so just using the GPS speedo.

The speedo probably took about 2 hrs of mucking around to install.

The Tacho doesnt seem to work correctly at the moment but everything else is great.

GPS Track

Air Temp

Engine Temp

Altimeter

Speedo

Trip Meter

Waypoints

Clock

Compass

Here is the Link to the Computer

Ya know... you can get some neat stuff to dress these bikes up... you oughta look into some of that stuff... oh never mind... YOU BOUGHT THE WHOLE FREAKIN CATALOG OF GEAR!!!
Dam ... how much heavier is that bike now that you have all of that gear bolted on
? OK sorry... back to serious mode... what tank are you going for?

I envy you guys down under... looks like you have some of the best riding areas on the planet... shame about all the venomous critters you have down there tho... that's one aspect of Australia I've never been able to get past... heck you guys have the top ten most venomous snakes... that still kinda freaks me out.

All kidding aside.. the bike looks great!

I'm liking that computer... I might get one for my TW. I bought a vapor that's getting mounted on an old CBX I picked up... was going to get another for my Tdub... going to re-think that now... I like the extra functions you have on that rig. For me a GPS is an absolute MUST HAVE! Is that protector billet aluminum?

Hey OB,

That's a pretty sweet looking setup that you have there!

Did you have much trouble getting the Duro on? How does it work in the deep, fine sand that it looks like you have there?

Keep us posted on your future mods.

No trouble at all. It went straight on with 100psi pumped into it.

The tyre works great in that deep sand. There is no way I could have taken my F800gs where the photos were taken.

I knew of this spot with the sand because I've been stuck there before.

So the TW was just great. The front wheel did wash out, but that was to be expected with that tyre on.New front tyre coming.

Cool. Glad to hear that the Duro has worked out well for you. I haven't had the chance to try mine in deep sand yet, so I am happy to hear that you are pleased with it's performance.

Thanks!

To be honest there really isn't alot of weight added when you take something off and replace it with something that will work better. Weight really doesn't become an issue. When I'm setting this bike up to do a trip across Australia and back again thru the deserts. I need equipment that will work to the best.

The tank I'm putting on is an Clarke XT350 tank, 16 litres. Always going to mount 2 rotopax so this is another 15 litres. Also have a fuel bladder. So need to be able to travel 1000km before our next fuel stop. So this might explain why I'm doing what I'm doing.

Did a similar trip recently on the bike below. So weight of the TW is nothing compared to this.

I was just kidding about the weight
It looks like you are on the right track with your mods, I'd love to take the trip you are prepping for.. I really look forward to your ride report when you are done. Are you a member over at ADVrider? I'm sure they would love to keep track of your planned ride... if you are a member over there or become one... I hope you post your ride report here as well.
