Murphy raised his ugly head last night and I found a 1 inch long nail in my brand new Bridgestone TW204 rear tire!

The funny thing is, the nail went completely through one of the "knobs" from front to rear, but didn't appear to go inside

the tire or punture the tube!

I pulled the nail out and sprayed some soapy water on the hole and got nothing.

Do you think its safe to continue to use the tire?

Thanks

I'd keep an eye on it, but I'd run it. There's a fair amount of steel cord under the blocks of tread and not much threat of catastrophe if you shed the lug. If the nail came out cleanly you're probably ok.

Odd puncture, though.

Imagine what a knobby looks like after having a couple of 3/4" or 1" ice screws in every knob.

Don't even worry about it. If it didn't puncture the tube, your good to go.

You know its OK as long as it holds air!

Remember the glass chips you found in my tire? Never a problem.

Tony, speaking of your tires....I've got a couple stock factory bridgestone knobbies in my garage that you are welcome too if you'd like them since they are just taking up space.

That is kind of hard to turn down. Bottles or cans?

Bottles would be nice!

Shoot me an email tonight and I'll try to figure out how to get them to you this weekend.

Ride safe.

Larry

P.S. Have not seen you up at the corners lately, everything ok?

I've been freezing my butt off every morning this week riding skyline back and forth to work.

And I'd like to publicly say thank you to Tony Elime for not one, but two six packs of classic coke, in bottles no less! I've got them stashed in my garage so my wife and kids don't find them!

Look forward to many rides together in the new year.

After you left, I put on my snowmobile suit and rode over mt. hamilton and took hwy 5 to pacheco pass!

I never should have tried to climb that grade, in the rain, with wind that bad!

I thought the hail was gonna break my flip up shield on my helmet.

Got home around seven, cold, wet and tired.

Yep...Only now I'm on meds for bronchitis and sinus infection

coughed so bad last night I thought I'd broken a rib!

Look forward to getting better and going someplace far in a week or two.
