Well,
Sorry but, took the T-dub out for a little cruise across town today to pick up some RC car parts. Shorts, light jacket and tennies. Took the Goldwing out to dinner last night from home here in Lake Havasu to Parker to the Blue Water casino. It was 67 when we left home and hit the casino. It was 53 on the way home. Dang, had to use the heated grips and seats!

CONFIRMED!!! All I can do in the winter is ice fish...and I haven't even been out once yet!
I sure heard you Reddave. Here in the southern NY Catskills we have no snow and the ice we did have is now gone. My icefishing gear has been parked and ready since mid December and not one outing yet. We have 2 trips planned for the end of this month and beginning of February and they appear to be on the chopping block with 50 and 60 degrees all last week. I do see a few brave or dumb soles out on very thin ice but no fish is worth my life. Cold looks like it will be arriving next week but who knows for how long or how cold it will get. It does piss me off the new forum deleted where we are all from so we no longer know where any of us are. Pretty sure Admiral is in Idaho but here on the east coast we have been in unseasonably warm weather so far. My wife just lost her job after 16 years due to company reorganization and near bankruptcy and I need ice just so I can get away and have a little peace.

Winter riding on the road with any speed is not very fun. Eespecially without studs. So we ride in the trails.

The key to riding in snow is to beat down a track in the snow as it accumulates. Your tracks in the compressed snow will harden and the texture will enable decent traction. Then once it stops your trails are rideable and it's time to clear the driveway.

I'm up at 9000ft in Colorado, Gary, so I've got plenty of ice over a foot thick. However, I'm waiting for my buddy to get some time to come along. I don't ice fish alone no matter what thickness!

RC parts, eh, Scott? You just reminded me that I made some snow chains for the 1/10 scale rock crawler last winter! I'm diggin' it out...
reddave,
Yeah, I recently got into RC stuff. I got two cars/trucks. One is a Red Cat Everest 10 rock crawler and the other is a Traxxas Slash 2WD Brushless motor, 60 mph car. I have a ton of fun with both. Out here in Lake Havasu, there's a few zillion (almost exaggerating there some) retirees and, a few of the old farts get together on an oval track with these Traxxas models. About a dozen line up, well sort of lineup, and one of them says: "GO".
They all take off and, before the first turn, which is about 20' away, there's a multi-car pile up and usually only ONE will make it around the first turn and take off. They're all cracking up and talking about buying more parts at the local hobby shop at that point.

Anyway, when not riding the TW, I'm fiddling with the RC's, making adjustments, fixing blown shocks, charging the Li-Po batteries and more.

Poor Admiral, we highjacked his thread after but a bit of confirmation.

I used to race those 1/10 electric 4x4 open class buggies so readily noticed R/C tracks in this terrain last weekend in thr somewhat above freezing Alabama Hills. Lots of great R/C crawling in the weathered granite landforms, was nice to see the tracks from someone having scale fun.

I did some research on RC last winter and really took a liking to scale trucks. They're so real looking it's hard to tell their not full scale in some photos. I like the detail weathering, obstacles courses, and accessories. I even delved deep enough to study scratch body builds to make a volvo sugga. Cool stuff.

I do apologize to Admiral for sneaking some side conversation in. I don't make a habit of such a thing. However, It does appear that there are others that do have an interest in the little guys. RC stuff's come a long way in the last few years. I won't say much more other than, to see how much they've progressed, take a brief look at these two vids. What a crack up. Again, sorry Admiral.

Admiral, good stuff, looks very much like NorCal during winter above say 5000'. Then I looked where you actually live....I love that area. One of my favorite areas, in fact. Spend my fair share of time at Little GV lake and Sly Creek during the spring/summer. Looking forward to TW'ing out there one of these days.

Those Traxxas remote controlled toys are some good fun. I had the Revo gas for a while, would love to have it with the newer battery setups. Good times!

OK, since some of us are so worried about hijacking threads then one of you needs to start an RV/Drone thread so we can have some fun and not worry about the Jackwaqgons.

There is no hijacking going on in this thread. RC talk is only confirming my suspicions that I'm not the only one!
