Hello my name is Samuel. I just recently got a 1996 Yamaha tw200 for $200.00 that I found on craigslist and the only thing that was wrong with it is that the carburetor ear for the float is broken on one side

Welcome Samirar. Great forum with a lot of good information for your oldish bike. The TW has been around for 26 years now and still has a following - that says something. Where in GA are you from? I used to live in Savannah and also in Columbus - long ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

I got some bad news about the bike yesterday. I went to the dmv about getting a title for the bike after running the vin number and found out the bike was stolen so I'm taking the bike back to the guy for a refund and looking a bike with a title. I got a bill of sale from the guy with his information

i guess it was too good to be true...did the seller seem like a good person?...is it going to be easy for you to get the money back?...i always get the seller's registration for the bikes i buy...one way to not have to worry about this happening...and if it was a bike that the seller had never registered i guess it would probably be a good idea to run the VIN at the DMV to make sure the bike is not hot...something you just don't think about sometimes...good luck in finding a new bike...check out searchtempest.com to search craigslist easily

It had seemed like the seller was a good person but he had got it on a trade for a 4wheeler. He didn't know it was stolen and he told me he will give me my money back. So now I'm going to look for a bike with a title so I can drive it. I found this one on craigslist http://savannah.craigslist.org/mcy/3574272415.html and it doesn't have a title and waiting for the guy to send me the vin number so I can get it checked out

well that's good...if that bike doesn't have a title are you going to be able to register it?...looks like you would need some type of official paperwork judging by the site below...also you may want to poke around on here a little more...the 87s were a troublesome year due to CDI issues and problems getting a replacement...hopefully there are more parts that aren't shown in that picture cause it doesn't look like they are all there...but if what he says is true about only missing the fender & mount, plus the engine working, plus the CDI being ok and you can register it without a headache it might be fine...myself, i would pass on this one just based on the fact that it's not titled (too hard to get things registered without a title up here) and it's an 87 but let us know how you make out
