After working on an old XS500 Yamaha all winter and deciding that it was high time I owned something reliable and fun to ride, I searched around a bit and found a dealer in Highland IL that had two 2010 TW's sitting on the showroom floor(new with no miles), collecting dust and being generally ignored in a far corner. After a small bit of haggling I picked one up for $3628 out the door (if anybody is interested her twin is still sitting there). Being that I'm the kind of person that has to modify everything to his liking, the first thing I did was start looking for info on the web, which led me to this fine forum. Seems like a great bunch of TW owners with some fine advice and lots of good tips! I'mvery glad I found this place, and will contribute myself whenever possible.

I put 25 miles on her Sunday and I have to say, this things a hoot! I have to agree with a lot of you and say the seat is terrible and the gearing is a tad low, but otherwise she's sweet! I've already got a 47t rear sprocket on the way, and a seat will be next.

Anyhow, I look foward to being a part of this great forum!

Very nice, time to roll out with the mods. Check out my build. It might give you an idea or two. Mr Bracket has gone all out on his.
. I find it crazy it was a 2010 just sitting in the showroom for that long
. You got urself a deal though
Welcome.

Welcome!

I just installed a 45t sprocket on mine and like it much better for commuting.

The Coleman seat cover is a reasonable improvement (for the money).

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I rode the tw in to work today and I have to say, the drive home is much more fun on a bike. I think I'll start doing this at least a couple times a week, weather permitting.

Thanks hooligan, I live in St.Louis too. I'm going to go out there Sat. and try to make a deal. J&W has a 2013 he said he would sell me for 4,000 after I told him about your deal, so I'll see what happens. Thanks again.

That's $372 just for the blue accent color over the red. That's still not a bad price for a new bike considering the average used CL price up here around Seattle is $3000, but that's money that can go to farkles and mods instead of the dealer. Let us know how it goes, and good luck!

Well, since its the last one he's got maybe you could get him down some more. Pit the two against one another and see what happens! Let me know how you do. Good luck!

I'll let you guys know what happens, and I really like this forum very nice members and full of information. I had a 2008 KLR 650, it was ok on the street, but it sucked off rode to tall and to heavy for me. So I have been wanting to get back on some nice trails and thought the TW would be perfect. I also currently own a 2008 Harly Davidson 1200 Sportster Nightster that I love to ride. Sorry I'm rambling on now. Thanks zubking.

You lucky duck! I bought a '13 about 6 months ago but I wanted a '10 or '11 because I preferred the red color scheme. Great bike. Congrats and enjoy the ride!
