Coincidentally enough I went from a 44 sprockets to a 47 and used the old sucky chain, that 47 sprocket was torn up in less than 3000 miles - the teeth were sharp enough to cut the heck out of you, totally trashed.
I assume you have not mounted the 47T yet - don't. Rip that piece of trash stock chain off the bike, buy a good 60-70$ O-ring chain as well as a new front sprocket (I assume you want the stock 14T) and never look back. You should easily see 20,000+ miles with a good chain and being O-ring means you can afford to slack on the maintenance much more, but not too much. spray it at least every 500 miles or so.
