Ok, so did a cursory search and didn't find anything...

The other night I plugged my '87 into the battery tender, but I forgot to turn the key off. Now there's ZERO electrical until I start it with the kicker. Swapped batteries with a known good one and still nothing. Tried the old battery in the other bike and the battery's good. I figured that would be the best "easy" place to start, now I'm just looking for possible next steps and hoping I didn't permanently (or expensively) damage anything... Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Have a look at the fuse under your right side panel. Is it possible that you shorted something out when you put the leads on your bike or do you have it hard wired in? It this the first time you used the tender?

Hello,

Normally with the kick, the engine must start...Even without battery and without the fuse.

If the contact has remained long, the regulator is probably burned.

Measure the turning motor voltage is possible ?

(sorrry for my translator)

Hoogie, I'll check the fuse under the side panel... Tender has been hard wired in since I got the bike and been used without issue before (problem just since I left the key on)...

christddel, The bike does start when I kick it, then the lights and indicators come on. When you say "regulator" do you mean the fuse or something else I probably don't know about...

Thanks for the help guys... it's my first bike, so it's a bit of a learning experience for me...

I would do a little wire inspection while you are in there and check the tender leads. The fuse is there to tell you there is something wrong!

Good luck!
