I got my TW200 out if the shop after having the carb cleaned.

I found a 2006 TW200 with 100 miles on it, it had been sitting in a garage for almost 4 years.

It would not idle, the gas looked like coffee, It just needed a little TLC. I bought it without riding it.



Now it is all better, I rode it 5 miles tonight, I like it, but that 1st gear is definitely looooow.

Heh, heh... yeah. Unless you do a lot of off road, the low first gear is a good reason to change the sprockets/chain.



Just one tooth on the front or 3~4 on the rear make a big difference on leaving a stoplight.

Great little bikes, aren't they? The first time I rode one was at a motorcycle safety class. It took me a couple of years, but I had to have my own. Good thing I waited until this year though because my stupid Honda GL500 has been acting like a Harley lately, so I've spent more time wrenching on it than I have riding on it. I've put more miles on my little TW in two months than I have on my Honda all season.



Yeah, first gear is a bit of a joke on the streets. My first upgrade next season will be a new set of sprockets and an O-ring chain.

Yes, They are great bikes.

I'll have to log some miles, then decide which way I want to go with the sprockets.

I changed the front sprocket on my BMW f650 from a 16 down to a 15. It did make a difference.

I just changed sprockets and chain. I went with a 14/45 combo and I'm very happy with it. I ride 90% on road commuting and it's a much more street friendly. I do give up quite a bit on steep hill climbing in 5th gear however.

Check out the speed calculator. I think you will be amazed how fast you can go in 4th and still be under red-line.



I just did. With 14/45 at 55 MPH you are at 85%, 60 mph is 92%.



The engine will probably be screaming, but it can be done.
