Ok, it's been a week and a half since the first run. I'm starting to build the route for the second half.

Likely start: Calpella-make for the coast and back.

This time I'll include options for adding more technical sections if there is interest.

Let's throw out some dates: ????

what time works, thinking a month out at least (lower water levels-warmer weather)

hopefully we'll avoid any enduro events on the same day that will require last minute rerouting.

Hell maybe I'll even fix my clutch by then.
(doubtful)

Sounds great! If we can wait at least one month, all the better. I'm recovering from a pulled back muscle, but a month should be enough time to heal, I damn well hope... really want to go this time! m.

Bummer, looks like I'll miss out on the second half..
My wife is expecting either late May or early June, so I gotta stay close to home those months..

Have fun guys! I'm sure it will be a blast, that is a beautiful area to ride!!!! Take lots of pics!!!

Just a reminder guys, the "real" Sheetiron 300 is the weekend of May 18 & 19. (I don't think our small group of TW riders should mix it up with 500 hardcore enduro riders)

+1

june 15th may be the earliest i can do it, but that may be too hot by then?

ahhh, Good point Brian. Don't think we should delay it too long cuz can get quite hot. How about May 25th (sat)?

What ! ! ! !

That's a pretty lame excuse
. Clearly you weren't planning ahead last August/September.

I guess we'll give you a pass this time, but next time keep your priorities straight
.

(Seriously, we all hope everything goes smoothly the next couple of months)

The middle of June 'round here usually is not "Too hot", and the closer you get to the coast, the cooler it gets. So leave Capella in Am, not too warm, at the coast, likely 60 degrees, 70+ degrees in the redwoods, & by the time we get back to Capella, it's cooling off. Just throwing that out. Any time in May / June will be nice weather. m.

Ok, built the route and way points, looks like 130 miles this time. I'l get a list of trail/road names and run them by Joemama to see if we should add more miles. How does Saturday June 1st or Saturday June 8th look?

Looking for a list of who's interested?

thanks Josh

I am in unless something horrible happens on the home front. Any day is fine with me.

I downloaded Base Camp so email me the way points and I'll see if I can make it work.

Josh,

I am not up on the trails west of 101. This would probably be best run through Mike's House of Madness. He even knows the local dialect. I should be ok for any date with a little notice. I hope Darrell has knobbys by then. Tony?

Sorry guys, I have not rode those trails for 25 years... more or less. It was all dead reckoning and luck, and a bit of trespassing. It was a bit easier to get away with it back then. So these days I'd be following the leader, and pretty much head west. I'm into any trail you pic, as long as my back is up to it by ride date. Seems I remember, starting from the coast side, Fort Bragg, we would head out the Sherwood road, and then go from there. Does the Sheetiron link with the Sherwood road? That road takes you right into Ft. Bragg, Where there is food, fuel, etc.

Where is the coast end of the Sheetiron? m.

Well I kinda figured by Mid-June Bracket may be able to sneak out, depending on the delivery date and all.

Ha ha, my wife is a trooper, but I had better plan to stay close by for a little while. Funny thing is, she'd probably let me go!! I'm just betting things will be a little chaotic until we figure out our schedules with the adjustment of a new little one.... I did already by my new little guy a motorcycle tho!! It's a little electric trials bike, cute little thing.... It's never too early to get 'em started LOL.. Plus he has a few cousins that are ready to start riding now!!!
