A Damn-Yankee, part of the 1981 Black Tag migration (the black Michigan license plates of those years, although I was from Ohio) I arrived at my host/contact's place after driving all day, after sleeping in my Pinto Wagon in Texarkana the night before. Except to void the bladder, I don't think I'd set foot on Texas soil yet. So, we arrived - my friend, his shackup, and me, all in that Pinto...and it being a BEAUTIFUL November day, I sat under a tree in their front yard to read the classifieds out of the Houston Chronicle.
Nobody told me about fire ants - which are not in Ohio, Western New York or New Jersey. All the places I previously called Home.
Those MF'ers got up my leg, my inner thigh, into my skivvies. Yeah...ants in the pants. Not funny.
Not forgotten, either. That was a fast and immediate lesson that life in the Southland was not all mint juleps and fine warm weather.

The rec. areas are becoming crowded with people who are bored and a wee bit irritable. Im just glad no bikes were involved as there are usually way more M/Cs than 4x4s in this area.
