I bought a beat up '87 yesterday for $425 with the typical CDI symptoms; running, but spitting and farting. After scanning old posts on the issue, I saw the one about baking old Volvo CDIs. 250F for an hour. 6am this morning it went in the oven and by 8am I was up and running!
So far so good. I'll update as things proceed.

Yum, nothing like the smell of a TW CDI fresh from the ovenI!
Hey, whatever works, right? You know what they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'll be interested to hear how long it holds up. Thanks for sharing.

I wanna know as well... heating mine did nothing for me

Keep your eyes on the ignitech programmable CDI thread in 'performance and customization' sub forum -- hope to have mine soon and will let you know how it goes.

I suspect that heating them only helps fix cold/cracked solder joints, whereas most have capacitors and other components that fail due to age or low quality.
