Usually o-rings are black in color(Buna);has anyone ever tried green(Viton)o-rings?. Viton is suppose to be more tolerant/hardier than Buna towards heat, chemicals(oil & fuel).

I haven't but I am very interested in your results should you get some.

If you need o-rings for the valve covers avoid the stealership. The dealerships around here want $9 each.

I used the viton rubber valve seals on my recent rebuild but not many hours on engine to validate their longevity.....

Take new samples to any industrial supply and have them match them. The o-rings in the fuel system need to be a different material than the rest of the o-rings on the engine. Buna-N (nitrile) works well with both gasoline and ethanol in the fuel system. I use Viton for engine o-rings. Avoid EPDM materials due to low maximum temperature resistance and tendency to dissolve in gasoline. Same goes for silicone and flourosilicone materials.

Hmmm....I thought Flurosilicone did well with fuel?...oh well.I took some of the o-rings to Fastenal, the guy there was not much help?.....keep tryin!!!.

I am just curious -- did you email or call the people at Ace Seal? They were twice very helpful to me. I sent a friend there and he said it was a good experience. We did do face to face transactions but I think they would still be courteous via email or over a phone.

Maybe Flurosilicone is over kill.
