So I got the new head on my motor last night... the old one crapped out due to lack of oil getting to the head.

The new one isn't getting oil either.

oil is making it to the oil filter, the filter has all four holes, i checked all the oil passages in the block and head to be sure they were clear, and triple-checked the hole in the clutch case that allows oil to come out of the notorious 4 holes in the filter and into the top end -- all were fine.

With the oil flow cheater bolt thing taken out of the head, there is no oil coming out at all. i can feel air though. only ran the bike for i think two 2-3sec sessions, didn't want to sieze it up as it was obvious no oil was getting to head.

I'm thinking at this point that it must be the oil pump, but haven't taken it off yet.

Why does the oil pump gasket show "obsolete" for all years including 2011? Hopefully the old gasket won't tear and will be OK to reuse?

Any tips from the gurus?

Just ordered an oil pump... Hate to throw money at it in hope of fixing the problem, but need this thing going badly. no transportation other than the wife and she has her own obligations and crazy schedule.

Any thoughts on the lack of oil pressure or the obsolete oil pump gasket?

Mine takes about 5-10 seconds to come out after an oil change and that's with my oil cooler in the way.. And it won't squirt out just ooze.

The past member reported oil pressures is only 2-6 psi

Remember it still takes about 20 miles of no oil flow riding to seize the motor.

All past reports (notably, the "incorrect oil filter" ones) of this failure seem to indicate almost exactly 20 miles of riding before seizing too. Pretty terrifying stuff: I'd get *almost* to work

New oil pump showed up in the mail today. Old part # 10-5H0-13300-00-00 (pre 2001 i think) was superseded by new oil pump part # 5H0-13300-02-00

None of the places i tried could get me a gasket though?? world has gone topsy-turvy. hope the old gasket holds out
did buy a roll of gasket material for something else though if it doesn't

jontow has a clutch basket holder so going to tear into it hopefully tonight. it looks like it would be pretty easy for a chunk of just about anything to screw up the oil pump

Just in case someone finds this thread in a future search...

Got the new oil pump today and installed it without a gasket. The old gasket was trashed after removing the old pump.

No visible damage to the pump internals, and it measures within tolerances listed in the manual, although barely.

After reassembly, the bike has awesome oil flow through the head (or at least according to the check-bolt). Certainly way better than the last time I removed the bolt after an oil change, with the bike "working properly"

Broke the clutch boss being a gorilla, but that is a different idiot story for a different $50 + shipping time idiot day.
