Hey there guys and gals! I am trying to find a picture of what a stock TW looks like with the plastic off (without tons of additional mods or grinding down the tabs). Do you have any?

A secondary question: Is taking off the plastics and tank pretty easy? I have a 2007 and the blue isn't my thing. I plan on painting the tank, and either painting the plastics or ditching them. Any insight on how to make the TW look "bad ass" with minimal cost? Hello Kitty sticks may be the answer...
maybe not.

Thank you,

Adam

The tank comes off with a bolt under the seat. Don't forget to turn the petcock to "off" and disconnect the fuel line.

Taking the front fender off is real easy, taking side covers off is real easy (one just "pops" off and the other has two screws)

haven't had the rear plastics off but it looks really simple, maybe 4 bolts?

as for how to make it look bad-ass, i'd suggest reading through a bunch of the threads here, as there are some downright awesome looking bikes around

As seen in my avatar, I kept the rear plastic fender but ditched the side fenders. The rear fender keeps the stock exhaust clean looking IMO. Otherwise you get a look as seen below in the first picture from too much of the rear fender trimmed, or from it removed completely. Different exhaust and it's a different story, again IMO.

Google or Yahoo images is your friend for pictures...search our forum as well for "hollow moddy" builds, it's the TW's equivalent to a bobber.

I found these (granted some have the extended swingarms and re-routed exhaust):

I even found a pic of mine on there from some Suzuki DR forum?

Anywho, I'd love to see more TW's taken THIS direction:

I'd have trimmed the street tracker tail a little more to scale, lightened up on the fat front tire and done the exhaust a little differently but this is my idea of an attractive, practical, minimalist, light, fun bike without the expense of a Japanese style hollow mod, which really kinda morphed from this style in the first place.

Most of the electricals can be hidden under the tail or the seat apron and the only real expense would be the tracker rear section and tires. The rest is mostly paint and paying attention to detail.

That is what my TW looks like . I got a tracker style fiber tail but more low profile. I got my tail piece from japan but they have a guy in the U.S who makes a Universal one. They are about $80-$90 without the seat. I got mine used for about $38. Here is the U.S link HotGlassWing I noticed I haven't seen anyone else besides me with out a mud guard when they do a Naked,Tracker Style or Hollow mod. Its just a metal, plastic or acrylic plate cut to fit and attached with zip ties. Keeps from being kicked up toward the pod filter

The early "Dashes" paint schemes on Yamaha race bikes were some of my favorites. Look at Kenny Robert's old race bikes. Sinophilia's red bike tank kinda reminds me of those.

Airtech has way lower prices than Omar's, but his have a reputation for bing thick and tough.

Rear sections can be cut from old gas tanks, or formed in fiberglass or aluminum fairly easy if you keep it simple. Lotta ways to go.

i think that's a polisport emx headlight ( http://www.polisport.com/motorbikes/nm_catalogo.php?ID_ORG=20 )...personally i want to mount a TNT headlight on my TW...not sure that it would fit though...looks much more lightweight...there looks like there would be more space behind a polisport to store the wires and to hide the gauges though

not sure if this is the same light but it looks the same but with 35 watt bulbs instead of 20s...
