Between the COVID Lockdowns and Fear, and losing some of the guys/main players, who began the Moab 2015 Adventure, I know it will be hard to recreate the friendships, weather, fun, and ride camaraderie, we had back in 2015 and then others continued for a couple of seasons...but Hoot is willing to start this thread and see where it leads...I'm no Ron from Boise or Mel to say the least...but I am willing to start this thread and see where it leads.
Hell, I'm 72 and still getting around well, and will be 73 early next year. I hope however that we can get some of the other guys who no longer frequent the site, ZDiver, Borneo, Weasel, Effenflood Jim, and others, to join in the conversation, and in addition to guys and wives {Mrs Admiral} that have shown an interest in a ReDo, along with some new faces...I think we can get this done next year with some planning and enough time.
So here we go...First Off...what suits you best?
March 2022 or October 2022?...I know the second date is a long way off, but there is something to be said for October weather and less crowds...
Other than providing a who is attending roster I've not put out much information in Post 1 as I normally would have since I wasn't the instigator of this haha. I can help out and put something together if you need. If you have specific questions ask away?
Dry Camp Location: Dalton Wells for dispersed camping: 38°43'08.3"N 109°41'21.1"W · Grand County, UT . This is about a mile north of Willow Springs road on Hwy 191. Our previous camps were at Willow Springs but it became very crowded so trying a new spot for the group but Willow Springs can still be an alternate if someone chooses.
While we all are willing to help and be helpful, everyone needs to be self-sufficient for the most part. Food/camping/lodging is on your own. We sometimes have a day or two where a group or groups will make arrangements to eat in Moab together but this is usually informal and arranged sometime during the... errr, event!
The rolling dates for the come and go as you want/can/need is around 19 March to 1 April (ish). Reference the attendance roster in post #1 which indicates the dates folks are arriving and departing.
Non-dry camping folks have secured lodging or camping in other locations around Moab and have generally included this information which I posted on the attendance roster as best I could.
There is no official ride itinerary. Most rides are arranged decided on the morning of the day's ride or the evening before. Generally, there are several groups heading to different trails or destinations based on their abilities etc. Some like to ride easy rides and some like harder trails. A volentold leader is usually established as the ride leader for most rides.
In the end, the total unorganized nature of the event/rides comes together just fine so no need to worry.
Again, if you have any questions go ahead and ask.
